Ulm, May 2004
Rows of wide glass frontages behind which are gleaming, four-wheeled
design-objects viewed by hundreds of people every Sunday. With an
area of more than 100,000 m², the Düsseldorf highway has developed a
unique concentration of businesses from the automobile industry:
whether Volkswagen, Honda or Toyota, all the noteworthy
manufacturers show their models in prestigious showrooms. A wide
range of automobile related service companies, such as DEKRA and
ADAC, are also accommodated there.
 |
The Düsseldorf
Auto-mile gains another prestigious car dealership: Peugeot
has built here its largest showroom in Germany. |
The French car manufacturer, Peugeot, has now also built its largest
showroom in Germany on the Auto-mile. Canadian maple on-edge parquet
was laid in the 300 m² of track-way that goes through the car
display areas. For the potential car-buyer, this serves as a circuit
and viewing track through the colourful variety of showroom models
offered by this French brand manufacturer.
The customer moves over the light maple track-way through a showroom
that, due to its stark mix of steel-grey and glazed materials,
strikingly accentuates the highlights of the colourful Peugeot cars.

the Peugeot showroom. |
 |
And because, as is widely known, one highlight draws
attention to another, Peugeot decided to have the Canadian maple
on-edge parquet bonded on
UZIN MK 100, the newly-developed
1-component MSP parquet adhesive from Uzin.

steel-grey mix of materials: here, the colourful cars
receive especially striking emphasis. |
Preliminaries
After appropriate testing and preparation by abrasion of the
existing substrate (a heated anhydrite flow-screed), all in
accordance with DIN 18365 and the BEB publication “Assessment and
preparation of substrates”, the installation company, Bräuner,
decided to bond direct to the surface with a one-component MSP
parquet adhesive.

parquet with
UZIN MK 100,
the newly-developed, one-component, parquet adhesive from
Uzin. |
 |
The new type of solvent- and water- free, special parquet
adhesive is not comparable with any of the previous Uzin parquet
adhesives: as a one-component hybrid adhesive, it combines the
powerful flexibility of a PU adhesive with the advantages of modern
MS technology. |

There are soon two highlights
side by side: the newly-developed parquet adhesive,
UZIN MK 100, and the range of Peugeot models.

 |
UZIN MK 100
is as if made for use under timbers that are prone to
swelling, such as maple for example: setting from the
slightest amount of surrounding moisture, it has no swelling
effect at all on the parquet. |
Setting from the slightest quantity of surrounding moisture, it
has no swelling effect on the parquet. Therefore, this special
parquet adhesive, certified as EC 1, is as if made for use under
timbers prone to swelling, such as maple for example. Due to its
very rapid initial bond, it also quickly develops suction-grab that
prevents “floating” and displacement of the individual pieces of
parquet.
| With its
flexible, but not too soft adhesive bond,
UZIN MK 100
dissipates shear forces and prevents the transfer to harmful
stresses to the substrate. |
 |
Even with the usual loading from display cars in an auto-showroom,
it is perfectly suitable. The reason: with its ideally flexible, but
not too soft adhesive bond, it dissipates shear forces and so
prevents the transfer of harmful stresses to the substrate.
Within seven working days – including surface preparation – under
the direction of its parquet master-craftsman and project manager,
Mr Königseder, and with a three-man installation team, the company
Bräuner completed the parquet area.
With surface abrasion treatment, the first installation section
could be started after only 72 hours. Therefore, it was possible to
work quickly and efficiently over the surface.
The installation company, Bräuner from Marl
With a wide range of services, the company Bräuner offers
complete support in the field of screeds, floor coverings and
parquet.
Bräuner GmbH was founded in 1970 purely as a specialist in screeds.
In 1990, it expanded its services into the professional execution of
all flooring work. With a total of seven employed parquet
floor-layers, they have also been available for parquet installation
since 1997.
At present, Bräuner has a total of 36 employees.
Reference projects include the IMAX 3-D Film Theatre in Bochum, the
Hypobank in Essen, the Ruhr-Forum in Castrop-Rauxel and the
