A former warehouse in Wiesbaden formed the shell for a
refurbishment and conversion into a Media– and conference
centre for the Panansonic Maketing Europe GmbH (limited
company) in 2006. The finished building now provides
facilities not only for educational, seminar and event
purposes but also serves for product testing demonstrations.
Following a company re-structuring, an administrative branch
which until recently has been used as a custom warehouse for
Europe, the main storage areas and parts of the existing
building store were intended to be used as a future
conference area in 2008.The basic concept of the
design of the two-storey lobby was to create an informal
meeting space which would also serve as the catering area.
The project architect, Adolph + Seibel, chose a combination
of dark floor tiles and oak wood flooring (industrial
parquet) which also forms the finish of the anthracite
coated steel stair. Pall – X 96 from Pallmann was selected
to seal the wood flooring areas by the wood flooring
contractor Gebr. Paulat GmbH (Wiesbaden / Kelkheim).
The waterbased wood flooring sealant is ideally suited for
heavily and frequently used wood flooring areas and also
offers a very fast drying time.
Process:
 The
170sqm of oak wood flooring (industrial parquet) received a
joint filling and was prepared with a drum sanding machine
using 100 grit and subsequently 120 grit. This was followed
by a thick and even application of the 1 component
waterbased primer Pall-X 325 from the Pallmann Brand, using
the special application roller WL. Pall-X 325 is
particularly suited to strongly absorbent types of wood and
where the wood floor shows tendencies for edge bonding.
Generally the product possesses a good filling strength.
The primed area was prepared to receive the coats of
lacquer after a short drying time.
The wood flooring contractors started to apply the first
layer of the 1 component water based lacquer Pall-X 96,
using the special application roller WL. This was done by
first apply ing
a thick and even layer of varnish followed by a two hour
drying time and a intermediate cross section (120 grit),
using a rotary machine. The floor received the second layer
of the premium wood flooring sealant then.

Conclusion:
Sealed with Pall-X 96 - the light wood flooring received the
highest protection against mechanical exposure and enhanced the
appearance of the natural building product timber. The new
conference lobby is equipped with lounge-like furniture and
invites employees as well as visitors to have spontaneous and
informal conversations and meetings.

The specially qualified and guild-registered contractor Gebr.
Paulat GmbH from Wiesbaden/ Kelkheim was established in 1999.
With a total of 8 staff including 2 apprentices the company
specialises in exclusive wood floor laying.
The architect practice Adolph + Seibel
The Practice Adolph + Seibel was established in 2006 by the
Architects Hans-Bernd Adolph and Hendrik Seibel. The office
operates from two locations in Weiterstadt (Rhein-Main area) and
Gevelsberg (Ruhr area) and employs beside the two architects 3
freelance staff. The main focus of their work is concentrated in
industrial / factory and restaurant/ leisure sectors, especially
the aspect of corporate architecture and a holistic brand
communication.
